Some people do not want to accept that we all are very similar. Instead they want to believe in widespread myths such as: Brahmins are cunning, Boss is always the problem, North Indians are backward, Sindhi people are selfish, etc. but as soon as you start discussing their horoscope they would start criticizing their family members who belong to the same caste, religion, language, etc. Father and husband / wife are two most criticized as much as I know. Astrology tells us that this happens because the basic nature of person is criticizing. Not because a particular religion, caste, language etc. is bad.
There are nine planets in each horoscope. Each planet, zodiac sign and house in the horoscope denotes particular set of qualities. The combination of these is used by the astrologer to predict the overall character of the person. Planets and Zodiac Signs represent Guna and Varna (loosely translated as caste these days) based on which the person (Jataka) performs his Karma.
* In some texts Saturn is considered mix-caste. In some it is lowest cast. Mercury is considered as Vaishya according to some texts. Some scholars consider Taurus as Brahmin and Cancer as Vaishya. Based on experience there could be differences in opinion.
Note: Rahu is the son of a demon therefore a demon. His head is known as Rahu and the rest of the body is Ketu. He is considered Neecha Jati (lower caste). This lower caste categorization is mainly based on the character of Rahu as he likes spreading rumors, he likes conspiracies, unorganized behavior, confusion, superstitions etc. Similarly, Ketu is known to cause agitation, misery and restlessness.
Thus, there are all the four Varnas and all the three Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) within all of us. Both the planets and the signs should be carefully analyzed in the horoscope to understand the dominant Varna and Guna. For example a person with Mars or Sun in ascendant in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius is highly likely to exhibit qualities of a Kshatriya.
However; it should be noted that Mars is the Senapati (Commander) and Sun is the king. Both are Kshatriyas but have different roles and responsibilities. Therefore, there is some difference in their characters. Both represent different Gunas. The difference must be understood. Similarly, both Venus and Jupiter are Brahmins but their qualities are different. Analysis of the influence on Rashis (zodiac signs) is also important to ascertain the basic character of the native.
Astrology is all about yoga (combinations). Unless the combinations (planet, house, sign, etc.) are properly analyzed, the chance of an interpretation going wrong would be high.
For example –Mars is for courage and strength. One of the foremost qualities of a courageous person is patience. A person with strong Mars would not break down in difficult times. Such person would not hesitate or get afraid of struggle. This quality can be seen in several Hindu texts referring the Gods (“हे रघुवीर महारणधीर”, "अहम् दुरापो दुर्धर्षो", “ॐ दुर्धर्षाय नमः”, "लोकाभिरामं रणरङ्गधीरं", etc.). A person with weak Mars would get irritated at petty issues. A weak sixth house would further confirm this.
Mercury is for speech. A person with strong Mercury would know what to speak and when to speak. Someone with weak Mercury in the horoscope would be found cracking jokes unnecessarily. His logic would often be overruled by emotions. His words would not be valued. People would make fool of him.
With a weak Mars and weak Mercury in the horoscope a person would be interesting in criticizing others. Weak Saturn also likes to criticize others. With an inauspicious effect of Saturn on the ascendant, second house, their lords or Mercury, the person would mostly be involved in criticism.
Changing the basic nature of someone is very difficult as the influence of planets is always there whether we believe it or not. This is why it is advised in several texts not to try to change someone. Instead change company. Someone who has love in his heart will share love while the one with hatred or restlessness will share hatred or restlessness. And, this sharing would be effortless. Natural!
