Anger is just inside and all the efforts to control it are in vain and they will be; because the sufferer doesn’t know what is causing this problem. He says that he is trying to control it but the fact is he doesn't want to lose it. He enjoys getting angry. It satisfies him. He feels like a burden is off his shoulder once he shouts but he regrets too after getting angry.
I was watching Lord Krishna and Arjuna samwad (conversation) in Mahabharata where Lord Krishna told Arjuna that anger is born out of dissatisfaction. This dissatisfaction is born out of expectation of any kind. When that expectation is not fulfilled you start feeling uncomfortable and hence the anger is born.
He (the sufferer) thinks that he did the right thing getting angry and that he could control people better when aggressive. Had that been the case, Lakshmana and not Rama would have been the leader.
It is actually the ego. It is his willingness to be "The One". The most desired one but something somehow doesn’t happen how as desired. The stronger the desire, the stronger the aggression. Astrologers say that Mars is a planet that instigates anger. Weak Mars causes irritation and strong Mars causes anger.
